Advocacy That Builds Bridges, Not Walls

Student Advocacy

What if advocacy wasn’t about choosing a side—but about making sure every student has a voice, a plan, and the support they need to move forward?

Navigating special education can be complicated. Families may know that something isn’t working, but feel unsure of what to ask for, how to communicate their concerns, or how to work effectively with their child’s school team.

Student advocacy is about helping families and schools come back to the most important question: What does this student need, and how can we work together to provide it?

Samantha provides individualized advocacy support focused on understanding the whole student, identifying meaningful needs, and helping families participate confidently in the special education process. Support may include preparing for and participating in CSE meetings, reviewing evaluations and IEPs, understanding recommendations and services, communicating concerns with school teams, and identifying opportunities to better align supports with the student's strengths and needs. During this preparation process, Samantha meets with the student and family to ensure that the student remains at the center of any decision making.

"The goal is not to advocate against a school. It is to advocate for a student while helping the adults around them work together."

PLEASE NOTE: Because effective advocacy requires trust and the right fit, Samantha does not take on every case. Each potential client is thoughtfully considered based on the student's needs, the family's goals, and whether her approach and professional relationships are appropriate for the situation.
