About Samantha
Samantha Scaturro is a special education expert, school psychologist, and educational leader with more than a decade of experience supporting students ages 3–21. She holds two master’s degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University, in Educational Psychology and Applied & Developmental Psychology, along with an advanced graduate certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.
Samantha has extensive experience developing IEPs, facilitating CSE/CPSE meetings, writing measurable goals, strengthening Present Levels of Performance, and supporting inclusive practices. She has facilitated CSE meetings for over 10 years and enjoys collaborating with educators, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Samantha brings a unique perspective to her work, drawing on the lenses of a student, school psychologist, administrator, and (most importantly) parent of children with special needs, to inform her everyday practice. Her professional learning is engaging, practical, and interactive, incorporating props, gamification, storytelling, and real-world application. Inspired by Brené Brown’s idea that “stories are just data with a soul,” Samantha views IEPs in the same way: as stories. Every data point, goal, and recommendation represents a real student with unique strengths, challenges, and potential. For Samantha, an IEP is more than a collection of data...it is the story of a student, and that story should guide meaningful, individualized, and actionable support.
